Optical Development Engineer:

Join Microsoft Devices Group Manufacturing Test Engineering team and make your mark on Microsoft’s most advanced products. Our group designs and builds test systems for a wide range of highly innovative products such as Xbox, Surface and HoloLens. We are looking for a creative Hardware Development Engineer who can bring fresh ideas to developing test solutions for complex, high volume consumer products. Job location will be in Suzhou, China.

As a successful candidate, you will be a contributor to manufacturing test system designs in fast-paced development cycles. A strong mix of technical ability, innovation, and vision allows you to address system problems and solve them effectively and timely. You are highly motivated and enjoy contributing to cross-disciplinary teams to successful accomplish your team’s goals.

Job Responsibilities:

?Provide direction and support in your core technologies of an overall test system solution for manufacturing of such products as Xbox, Kinect, Surface, Band, HoloLens, etc.
?Design, integrate, debug, document, qualify, and support those solutions through an entire product development lifecycle
?Partner with internal and external teams to leverage existing solutions as appropriate
?Travel to product development locations domestically and internationally to determine test solutions.


Qualifications include:
?Master in Optical, Physics, ME or EE preferred
?12 years of work experience as a hardware development engineer and +5 years of work experience in design of Optical Test System solution.
?Excellent communication, teamwork, documentation and organizational skills.
?Great attitude and self-motivation.
?Proficiency with CAD programs such as Zemax, PTC Creo/Pro-E, SolidWorks, Electronics, etc.
?Experience delivering solutions for high-volume production is preferred.
?Broad experience in Mechatronics design of systems is a plus:
oVision Systems and analysis
oInstrumentation selection
oMotion systems and controls
oSensors including Thermal, Proximity, Optical, Electrical, Etc.
oSystems integration
?Experience in automated testing of devices in a cleanroom environment.
?Ability to troubleshoot to root cause and solve complex problems.
?Ability to travel internationally 10% of the time.
?Proficiency with Statistical analysis methods and tools preferred. SPC and six sigma methodologies.
